- Lore Agnes Fellowship (for international scholars)
The Lore Agnes Fellowship explicitly supports international female postdocs with children. It is endowed with €2,000.00 per month for a research stay at RUB for up to six months. This should enable the entire family to travel to Bochum. A broad network of closely cooperating institutions and services will help to make the stay as pleasant and profitable as possible. More.

- Gateway Fellowships (for scholars at UA Ruhr)
Research School PLUS offers a bridge financing for those who just obtained their doctorate from Ruhr University Bochum. The Gateway Fellowships (GFs) grant funding for up to 9 months to provide excellent early career researchers with the opportunity to attend outstanding international host institutions for preliminary studies or preparing a postdoc project. GF fosters the development of your research profile and enables you to collaborate with the world’s best in your field of interest. GFs serve as a bridge between the doctorate and the extended post-doctoral period of research careers and thus encourage and support you to pursue your scientific goal. A GF enables you to continue your research career at a very early stage, with the aim of obtaining a substantial international postdoctoral grant or research funding or a contract outside the RS PLUS program (via DFG, EU, DAAD etc.). - Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities (KWI) International Fellowship
The KWI Fellowship Program addresses excellent researchers from the humanities, cultural studies, and the social sciences. The institute provides fellows with modern infrastructure, office space, technical support and offers a library service, event and research management as well as support in all administrative and communicative regards. We are inviting research fellows with a completed PhD plus up to six years of post-doctoral experience. The fellowships can be offered to applicants in all disciplines represented in the current KWI research agenda. The KWI International Fellowship Program addresses international researchers. Researchers of German nationality are eligible to apply if currently employed at an international institute. Fellows will receive a fellowship contract (not a full-employment contract) and a monthly allowance of 4.000 EUR (pre-tax) meant to cover rent, insurances and living expenses. Travel expenses for arrival at the KWI and for departure after the fellowship can be partially reimbursed. More.
- Research Explorer Ruhr (RER) is a two-week summer program for international doctoral researchers, who have submitted their doctoral thesis, and early postdoctoral researchers interested in exploring the research landscape of the University Alliance Ruhr with its three members Ruhr-Universität Bochum, TU Dortmund University and University of Duisburg-Essen.

A series of networking events and guided excursions will help you becoming acquainted with the thriving Ruhr Area as a potential place to work and live.

Research Training Groups are established by universities to promote young researchers. They are funded by the DFG for a period of up to nine years. Their key emphasis is on the qualification of doctoral researchers within the framework of a focused research programme and a structured training strategy.
