Our academic education emphasizes a practical approach of training. If you are enrolled in one of the Ruhr Universities, you can take courses at all three universities and be part of our growing academic community. Since our institutions are closely connected to communities and businesses in the region and in neighboring countries, you will have access to opportunities throughout Europe.


Graduate Programs

There are some 180 master‘s degree programs, many of them offered in English, in engineering and science, as well as in the social sciences and humanities. Working closely with our internationally renowned faculty, students earn a degree that is highly respected by employers around the world. The UA Ruhr universities do not charge tuition fees. Students pay a low semester fee that includes a semester pass for public transportation throughout the entire state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Summer and Winter Schools

The University of Duisburg-Essen offers Summer as well as Winter schools. These courses are a combination of German Language Studies and a Cultural Immersion Program. The Institute of Sociology (IfS) offers a Global and Transnational Sociology Summer School from June 7 to July 1, 2021. Apply by March 31, 2021. Please click here for further information. TU Dortmund University offers an Virtual International Summer Program (ISP) from June 3 to August 6, 2021. Within the International Summer Program you can choose and combine courses from two fields of study: Engineering and German and European Culture. Application deadline: March 31, 2021.
